Updated Meal Distribution During Mandated School-Shutdown

The Mifflinburg Area School District will be providing free lunches to all students during the mandated school shut-down.  All district students, regardless of family income, will be eligible for free lunch to be provided on a first-come, first-served basis at the Mifflinburg Area Senior High School at 75 Market Street.

Due to the ongoing COVID 19 outbreak and the additional two-week Governor Wolf mandated school closure, we want to continue to ensure our students have an opportunity to receive student meals.  However, as Governor Wolf continues to emphasize the practice of social distancing, we are going to make a change in our lunch distribution practice to reduce the amount of social interaction for our students, families and volunteers.  Effective Monday, March 30th, meal distribution will only be available on Mondays during the continued school shut down at our High School distribution location from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  School aged children in a car will receive a meal bag which will include 5 complete meals for the week.

The pick-up location will be at the northwest corner of the building, next to the front driveway of the High School.  For this distribution, traffic flow on this driveway will be reversed.  All traffic to the pick-up site will enter the driveway from East Street.  Please watch for signs and follow directions of school staff present.  We ask that all school-age children remain in vehicles as they approach the pick-up location.  Children must be present with those picking up meals.  Meals will be distributed based on the number of children in the car.

Families who live in close proximity to the school may walk to pick up meals, but they are asked to avoid disrupting the flow of the pick-up line or congregating at the distribution site.

Lunches will include sandwiches, fresh vegetables, fruit, milk and a snack.

We encourage families to continue to be proactive in reducing the risk of coronavirus by leaving the pick-up site once meals have been distributed and not gathering in groups.
