  • Welcome to my website!

I would love to share a little bit about myself with you...

My journey as a teacher began in 1998 when I graduated from  Messiah College with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.  Focusing on multicultural education, I completed my ESL Program Specialist Certification through Penn State University in May 2000.  As I began my teaching career, my passion for teaching ESL grew deeper and wider.  In May 2011, I graduated from Eastern Mennonite University with a Master's Degree in Education, specializing in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).

This is my 15th year teaching English as a Second Language for the Mifflinburg Area School District.  I work with students K-12 and their families.  I also teach an undergraduate course at both Bucknell and Susquehana Universities~ helping pre-service teachers understand how to work with English Language Learners.

I live in Selinsgrove with my husband and two children.  We love spending time together.  Whether we are playing soccer, riding our bikes or reading together, family time is something we believe is very important for building positive relationships.

Each year is an exciting adventure in teaching! I believe children should have a variety of opportunities when learning and growing...and it's my responsibility to make sure they have the tools they need to be successful in and out of the classroom.  Through teaching ESL, I have met the most incredible families and enjoy working with their children.  It is such a great reward to see their progress in English, both academically and socially.  I am blessed to be able to come to school everyday and work with wonderful children and colleagues!
