Mrs. Young's Home Page

  • Welcome to my classroom website!

This is my 19th year of teaching, 18 of those years in the Mifflinburg Area School District.  I have known since I was a second grader (many years ago!) that I wanted to be a teacher.  Teaching is such a rewarding career, and I enjoy watching my students learn and grow throughout their first grade year.  I can't imagine doing anything else!

I am a 1995 graduate of Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  I received my Master's Degree in Reading from Bloomsburg University, and am certified as a reading specialist.

In my classroom, I want each student to feel welcome and safe.  It's their home away from home!  I will challenge them to be the best they can be, but also to know that mistakes along the way will happen, and will lead to even greater success.  I am always amazed at the end of each school year by the growth, academically and socially, that I see in my first graders.

I live in Mifflinburg with my husband, two children, and our Golden Doodle.  In my "free time"  I can usually be found at a practice field for my children.  Their various sporting activities keep us busy year round!  I enjoy running, surfing on Pinterest, and cook out of necessity, not enjoyment.
