  • Welcome to my website!! I am so excited to share my First Grade Reading Intervention classroom with you! My goal is to provide a positive, safe, fun, and encouraging environment for children.  I want to take each child from where they are in August and help them move as far as they can go academically, socially, and emotionally.  This is a room where all children can feel supported and happy, working at an appropriate pace, as we move through the process of becoming fluent readers together (and having lots of fun while we are at it)!

I am not originally from the Mifflinburg Area.  I grew up in upstate New York (the Adirondacks!) but graduated from Bloomsburg University.  From there I began my teaching career in Dundalk, MD, for the Baltimore County School District.  I taught fourth grade for four years.  I also received my Masters Degree with a Reading Specialist certification from Loyola University in Baltimore, MD.  I moved from MD to Mifflinburg in 1994 when I got married.  In 1995, I began teaching Title 1 Reading in the Selinsgrove Area SD.  I enjoyed it very much and taught there for 10 years.  In 2005, I was hired as a Reading Specialist for New Berlin Elementary and Mifflinburg Elementary.  Now I am in the same district as my children. Then in 2010, I was lucky enough to move to First Grade at New Berlin. When New Berlin closed, I continued teaching First Grade at Mifflinburg Elementary. I taught First Grade until the 2019-2020 school year when I returned to Reading.  Now, I have the best of all worlds - teaching in first grade, teaching reading (my favorite subject), and teaching in Mifflinburg!

I live in Mifflinburg with my husband, two daughters, two sons, one cat, two dogs, assorted fish (inside and outside), and a tropical frog, named Gloria.
