Mr. Alexander's Home Page
My name is Mark Alexander, and I have been teaching in Mifflinburg School District for nearly 20 years. I began teaching 7th and 8th grade Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics back in the fall of 1993. Since then, I have been teaching 4th grade and loving it!
My wife and I are originally from Illinois, and currently have three daughters who are working their way through Mifflinburg Area School District. We return to Illinois each Thanksgiving to visit family, and archery hunt for the elusive whitetail deer on our family farm. It's the most wonderful time of the year! Additionally, I coach middle school girls' basketball in the fall. My family and I also host the Tri, Tri Again Triathlon at our home, which raises money for local charities, including Kelsey's Dream, each June.
In my classroom, students are expected to become more accountable for their actions and academic efforts, as well as more independent with their studies. Students in my classroom should expect to be randomly rewarded for outstanding behaviors and academic achievements with pizza parties, ice cream parties, and the occasional bottled water...some of which have been donated by parents themselves...thanks parents!
I believe in making learning fun and meaningful. As already mentioned, students in my classroom will be held accountable for their actions and efforts. Students who put forth their best efforts in my room will have a terrific school year.
After having taught in the middle school years ago, I believe that I know what is going to be expected of my students in the near future, and I do my best to prepare them for that journey. It's all about effort!
