2020-21 School Year
I have always been a hands-on learner. I like to see and feel what I'm learning. This motivates me. Now as a teacher this helps me motivate and engage my students in relevant content.
This year I’m looking forward to teaching ten different STEM courses. Literacy in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) sparks the innovative spirit in students and prepares them for postsecondary options. STEM is also a great way to meet Pennsylvania's Common Core Standards because it is connected to tangible learning.
Fall 2020-21 will be our 7th year for "Trout in the Classroom"
Our participation in the Trout In the Classroom program was made possible through a unique partnership between PA Fish and Boat Commission and PA Council of Trout Unlimited.
PA Fish and Boat Trout in Classroom Connection - Amidea Daniel
Trout Unlimited Chapter Sponser - RB Winter
Trout Unlimited's Rebecca Holler /Education Coordinator/ Eastern Abandoned Mine Program
This partnership, coupled with assistance from local conservation organizations, was created to introduce Pennsylvania students to coldwater resources and their importance to all communities. The partnership also provides brook trout eggs, trout food, technical assistance, curriculum connections and teacher workshops each year.
Mifflinburg Class of 2014’s monetary donation was another key in getting this STEM program started.
The Pennsylvania Trappers Association PTA - District #7's has donated $300 over the last 3 years for use with our Envirothon Club.
