Geisinger Orthopaedics Sports Medicine
Dear Parents/Guardians and Student Athletes,
Our Mission at Geisinger Orthopaedics Sports Medicine, a subdivision of the Geisinger Orthopaedics Institute, has always been to embrace student athletes of all ages. We provide elite medical care during activity and enhancing individual achievement through excellent on-sight athletic training services, sports performance training, nutritional education, and psychosocial intervention. Our staff of nationally renowned and fellowship trained board certified Orthopaedics specialists are on your sideline providing the highest quality of patient care, improving mobility, and enhancing the quality of life.
We would like to take a moment to officially welcome you. Geisinger Orthopaedics Sports Medicine has been providing excellent care to the community since 2006. With a team of six Orthopaedics Surgeons, four Primary Care/Sports Medicine Physicians, twenty two State and Nationally Certified Athletic Trainers, and three Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists, we have the professionals you need to get back into the game. We understand the unique timeline of athletic injuries. By teaming up the Geisinger Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, you gain access to our “Fast-Track”/”Gold-Card” referral service when physician services are necessary. We honor a 24 hour appointment timeline with on-site diagnostic testing, orthotics, and casting when evaluated by a physician in our clinics. From the onset of injury to your return to play, our physicians and athletic trainers collaborate for increased continuity of care and the most thorough follow up attainable.
Just as you have been preparing for a challenging new year in the classroom and on the athletic fields, we have been hard at work keeping up to date with newly instituted guidelines and regulations in an effort to continue our legacy of the highest quality of care possible. We offer in-house educational opportunities lead by our staff of surgeons and physicians to ensure that our athletic training staff is at their best. We make every effort to stay up to date on PIAA regulations including the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Statement, Concussion Education Requirements for coaches and the Heat Acclimatization Policy for Football that was instituted in August 2013.
As you embark on another year of academic and athletic achievements, you can have full confidence that we will be there in your time of need. Feel free to contact me via email or phone found below if you have any questions or concerns regarding your student athlete.
Sincerely,
Marco Herrera
