Information for Parents or Guardians Regarding Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA)
The annual Pennsylvania System School Assessment is a standards-based, criterion-referenced assessment which provides students, parents, educators and citizens with an understanding of student and school performance related to the attainment of proficiency of the academic standards. These standards in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science and Technology identify what a student should know and be able to do at varying grade levels. Every PA student in grades 3 through 8 is assessed in English Language Arts and Math. Every PA student in grades 4 and 8 is assessed in Science.

In an effort to promote success for all students, the school district has started an Equity Team. Equitable school systems need to examine their practices to identify gaps that exist in performance that may be inhibiting some student’s abilities to be successful. The role of the Equity Team is to ensure all students have the educational resources they need at the right moment in their education across race, gender, ethnicity, language, disability, sexual orientation, family background and/or family income. To examine district practices, the Equity Team is seeking input/feedback from the community and district families. Please click on this article to participate in our questionnaire.
