Classrooms for the Future Grant Awarded to Mifflinburg Area School District

The Laptop Labs are Coming  (9/07)

With the adoption of this year's state budget and the Governor's vision to adequately equip schools with technology tools for learning, Mifflinburg became one of the Commonwealth's schools to receive funding for technology.  Six science classrooms will be equipped with laptop labs and other tools such as projectors, smart boards, and video cameras. Teacher using these tools will be trained by the state at both conferences and through online courses. Once implemented, each classroom will be further supported by a local technology coach.  There are already many success stories being told by PA schools that were awarded this grant in 2006.  For more information, see the PDE overview

High School Students Make It Count:  Mifflinburg Captures Region V in the PA Math League Contest

From Left to Right: Dan Manbeck , Jason Martin, and Susan Snyder (8/07)

It was just a small box that arrived in the High School office, but the contents verified that which www.mathleague.com had been posting for several months - Mifflinburg High School won Region V of the PA Math League Contest.  Through six monthly contests, Mifflinburg High School students lead a region of the state stretching from Northern tier Towanda down to Susquenita HS.  While many students contributed to Mifflinburg's winning effort, Princeton bound Jason Martin (07) lead the participants.  Another key contributor was Dan Manbeck (07) who was invited to participate in the American Invitational Mathematics Exam after his stellar performance on the American Mathematics Contest.  Dan is now a student at Lehigh. Both were also among 14  students who were recommended for college credit through the College Board's Advanced Placement Calculus program.  The hardware now resides in the office of contest registrar Susan Snyder.  Many thanks to Mrs. Snyder for her efforts in supporting student achievement.
