ART CLUB: Mrs. Rodichok
Who May Join: 7th and 8th graders
Purpose: To allow students who are interested in art some additional time and instruction
Types of Activities:
Keeping a sketchbook
Extra time throwing on the pottery wheel
Creating art pieces to be used in a portfolio
Community window painting
Assisting with art show set-up and activities
When Meets: Day 3 at 12:05
Special Requirements for Joining:
Drawing test
Written proposal of goals and objectives by the student

Purpose: To work together in service projects at school and in the community, develop leadership potential, develop strong moral character, help others and build strong friendships. This club is sponsored by the Kiwanis club of Mifflinburg.

FCCLA: Mrs. Haines and Mrs. Eberhart
(Family, Career and Community Leaders of America)
Who May Join: 6th, 7th, 8th graders
Purpose: To provide opportunities for personal development, preparation for adult life and leadership development.
Types of Activities:
· Visit nursing homes
· Stop the Violence activities
· Christmas in a Shoebox
· Posey notes
How to Join: Listen to announcements. Come to an informational meeting at the beginning of the school year and sign up.
Who May Join: 6th grade students
Purpose: To promote wellness and fitness; to be active and live healthy lives while having fun.
Types of Activities:

When Meets: Day 6 (11:25 - 12:05)
Special Requirements for Joining: None. Be active and have fun.

Purpose: To introduce students to the fundamental skills and develop social and team-building skills.

When Meets: 25 hours per year at announced times

How to Join: Listen to the announcements and get a permission slip signed. Permission slips are available in the office prior to program.
MIND JOGGERS: Mrs. Griffith
Who May Join: Everyone
Purpose: Recognize reading effort
Types of Activities: Computer quiz on content of select books
MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIR: Mrs. Rapson
Who May Join: Current 6th, 7th or 8th graders
Purpose: Although viewed as an activity, choir is a class that exposes students to proper vocal technique, and allows them to sing a varied repertoire of vocal music. Students also develop a sense of responsibility and commitment as they work toward a common goal. Choir is graded and will appear on report cards every marking period.
Types of Activities: The Middle School Choir performs two concerts every year. In addition, students in choir may audition to participate in the Chriskindl Singers, PMEA District 8 Southern Middle School Song Fest and Fine Arts night ensemble concert.
When Meets: Days 2,5, and 6
Special Requirements for Joining: Students must have a signed parent permission form. Forms are handed out at the first rehearsal.
How to Join: Listen to announcements. Come to the first announced choir rehearsal usually the 2nd full cycle of school.
TECH. ED. OPEN LAB: Mr. Stenger
Who May Attend: All TSA or Tech Ed students needing more time to complete projects
Purpose/Activities: Open time to work
When Meets: Once week for 1-2 hours
How to Join: Listen to announcements and show up.
TSA: Mr. Stenger/Mr. Huntington
(Technology Student Association)
Who may join: 6th,7th,8th graders
Purpose: TSA was started by industrial arts teachers who wanted to provide opportunities for students to be recognized for their accomplishments. Members have the opportunity to compare their technology competencies with other students through local, regional, state, and national competitions.
Goals:
Leadership: members develop ability to plan, organize and carry out worthy activities and projects together. Emphasis is placed on the social development, civic consciousness, scholastic motivation and community involvement.
Technology education: promotes technology as integral part of education
Knowledge: awareness of new development and technology
Respect: Students learn to respect the dignity of labor and to appreciate craftsmanship.
Motivation: promotes students becoming interested in learning.
Choices: assists members in making informed and meaningful occupational choices.
When Meets: Once per cycle (Day 5)
Special Requirements: Pay TSA dues per year to join.
